Never said I was right, I just said that I vaguely remembered reading about it. But seeing as you won't be responding to this I suppose it doesn't matter much now does it? Well, I enjoyed our chat togethor and hope that somewhere deep down inside you'll find the heart to forgive me.

P.S.: Yes, you are wrong about the amount of changes to a work. There is no magic amount that can make your edit not bound under the original copyright. You really need to do your own research into copyright laws.
You know, I didn't bother reading 90% of this. You are so concerned with minor points such as why I wrote "lol"? that once again, you're missing the entire reason I ever started exchanging messages with you.
Plain and simple, what you are doing is wrong, not having a name is not an excuse, and I am sick of talking to a thief. This time, I really won't bother replying again.
Are you putting a question mark next to lol because you don't know what it means, or because your wondering why I said it? For the former it means quite literally 'laugh out loud' for the latter I posted it because I was quite literally laughing out loud.
Anyways on to more pressing matters, I'm not saying that it makes it mine. I'm just saying that you can't say that I didn't do anything with it. That you can't say that I didn't put any work in it. Also I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you make just enough changes to something, that work, not the original mind you, does become legally your property. Now, I could be wrong about this. But I do remember reading about it for a school project many years back. Also if any part of me is sympathetic towards any of this, it's the part of me that feels bad about not being able to give names. However this is balanced out by the happy me who just doesn't give a crap.
The post them here so they don't expire. Now maybe they do here, but it doesn't seem like it so far. What I mean is that if you post something using imageshack or the like, eventually the image will dissapear. And it's a real pain when you've already deleted the image beforehand and now lack the resources to post it again. So yes, I post them so I can keep instant acsesse to them any time I want. Also you are the only one who I've known that's pointed this out. Another person once scolded me for favouriting a bunch of artwork, but that's kind of a different matter.
Okay, I believe I see your point now but I'm afraid the same tired ole excuse still works here. Chances are I won't be caught as unfortunate as that is. If your not willing to risk the chance of having your art stolen by someone else then don't post it. It's a sad thing to have to worry about these types of things, but it's just an example of the sad world we live in. Which is better, someone who steals artwork and claims it as his own, or someone who steals artwork and tries to give credit to the real owner? Which is better?
PS: The below answers are not valid: There both wrong. The one who gives real credit instead of trying. Why does your profile say south Africa when your Canadian?

It doesn't matter in the slightest how much time you devote to it. It still can't make it yours. It doesn't matter that you are devoting time to it, it's still stolen! I never said you aren't contributing anything to the piece, that's after the fact. You are stealing. Plain and simple, accept it. I'm seriously beginning to think you keep arguing because deep down, you know you're doing something wrong, and you don't like that feeling.
Yes, you HAVE explained why you "can't" give names, you don't need to say it again. You're repeating yourself as wel, and I'll repeat myself again. That's a very weak excuse. If you can't give proper credit, don't post it! Simple as that! As for whether or not you have been caught, I couldn't say. I did see I'm not the first to tell you you're a thief, and I doubt I'll be the last.
Once again, you're missing my point. You aren't a thief because you made the edits, you are a thief because you can't be bothered to provide proper credit. Not having a name is NOT an excuse. If someone does catch you, you would still be guilty of copyright infringement, since you don't have the proper credits or permission. Altering someone else's work doesn't cancel out their rights to it. You can take all the time you want to edit them, but if you're caught, you could still get slammed with a lawsuit, despite the time and effort you put into them. Again, my problem isn't with the editing, it's with STEALING. All you have to do is not post anything unless you are prepared to provide the proper credit. If you don't have that information, it's stealing, there's no way around that.
Again, I admit, you're chances of getting caught are slim. That doesn't make you any less guilty, though. Stating that someone else did it doesn't make what you do legal. Unless you have express permission, or you give PROPER credit, it's still a crime.
lol, if you take something and make edits then you, yourself are also devoting time to the work. Sometimes edits may take more time then the original work itself, all depends on the edit. So how can you explain that the person who takes the time to make these edits isn't contributing anything to the piece itself? Both the creator and the editor are doing the same thing are they not? There both sitting down a t their computers, bringing up whatever paint programs they have, and sprite by sprite making something new. A gif becomes an animated gif for example, or something blue becomes white. Either way there different in their own right.
Also I think I did get caught, you figured it out right? Not that I was really going out of my way to hide it though. Anyways I've already explained why I can't give names, I'm not going to say it again, I can't because I don't have any. Are you even reading this last part? You seem to be missing it alot, seeing as you keep repeating yourself. So no, it's not a matter of respect, it's a matter of lack of information.
Further more if I couldn't be bothered to do any of the work myself then how else would these edits exist? Because I put in the effort to make them, thats why.

Again, I fail to see why a name is necessary at all, but whatever, that's not the issue.
There is a world of difference between imitation and outright theft. Imitation may be to work in someone's certain style, but it is still doing ALL the work yourself. No shortcuts, no altering what someone else did. When you take someone else's work, make changes, you're still taking something the original creator devoted time and energy to. I suppose you think you'll never get caught, and the sad part is that you're probably right. The internet is a vast cesspool of unregulated information, I suppose it is extremely unlikely you'd ever be found. I guess you don't care enough to respect the fact that someone worked on those, possibly hoping for a bit of recognition, or even just a "Nice work!" It is a small thing, but maybe they would be glad to see their name on your animations. Not giving a name isn't giving credit to anyone. It's simply stating you couldn't be bothered to do the work yourself, and you couldn't care less about the person who did.
I fail to see why your getting so worked up over being called wolfy. I did it like what, twice? And have yet to do it since. Also I just like saying it is all, I'm not trying to use as point maker or whatever.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Obviously not everyone feels the same way about this matter. I'm just saying that while one person may think it's the worst thing that a person could do, another may find it oddly exciting. Well maybe not exciting per se, but I'm just using that in place of a better word.
Further more I'm sorry but I don't always think far ahead enough to know when I'm going to post something on deviant art in the future.
So I am giving credit to someone, just a nameless someone. But it is a someone.
